Most people struggle with controlling their time and time management. Entrepreneurs however, have an even bigger struggle on their hands. Demands on their time are enormous! Continual business development, product or service expansion, admin, employee management, meetings, networking and the day-to-day running of the business – these are but a few of the demands on the Entrepreneur’s time.
So how can the entrepreneur cope with it all? What is the magic secret to controlling and managing time? How do we know we are using our time effectively? The answer is simple:
“What is the best use of my time right now?”
Yes, the answer is indeed a question. A question the entrepreneur can ask him / herself all through the working day. It is this one question which can help the busy entrepreneur control their time.
It all comes down to priorities and this one question can hugely simplify the prioritisation process. Whenever a new demand on time arrives, just ask yourself: “What is the best use of my time right now?”
If doing task A will be a better use of your time than doing task B, the prioritisation problem is solved. Simple. Once task A is completed, ask yourself the same question again. This will result in focusing your mind on the best use of your time in that moment. And so it goes on….
Asking “What is the best use of my time right now?” is possibly the easiest way to prioritise tasks and controlling your time – and is the secret to time management (if there is such a thing).
